Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ iconHow long does a therapy session last?

Generally, you can expect a session to last 45 - 50 min.

How long does the course of therapy take?

There is no definitive answer to that. It is dependent on what the issue is that brings you into therapy, your individual time commitment, if you are looking for symptom relief or interested in a deeper level of personal understanding and growth. The therapist's individual approach to treatment will also influence length of time. Overall it really depends on what your personal goals and needs are.

What is Coral Springs Annex's philosophy and approach to counseling and therapy?

We are here to assess the needs of each individual client. Our goal is to gain an understanding of the individuals problems, meet them where they are emotionally, and then walk the path with them as they find and develop new methods of managing their lives and life situations.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, but there are certain limits to your confidentiality (see limits to confidentiality file under forms). However, all efforts are made to maintain your confidentially. We will not share information with anyone without your written consent. This applies to anyone who may call inquiring about you. We will have to tell them of our responsibilities and neither deny or confirm you as a client. Insurance companies have the same legal responsibilities.

My son/daughter is going to have a meeting with a therapist. What will be my involvement?

This will depend on the child, their age, the problem. Generally speaking the younger the child the more the therapist will want to involve the parents or guardians. the first session will typically include parents/guardians and the child, together and separately. The parent/guardian has full legal rights to the information shared in sessions; however, the therapist will frequently request the parent/guardian to allow for confidentiality for the child. It can facilitate a stronger therapeutic relationship, including greater trust between child and therapist. It is important to know the therapist will ALWAYS inform the parent/guardian of any information that may result in harm to the child or others.
